Uniper Hydrogen Confirms Market Interest in Hydrogen Import Terminal
Uniper Hydrogen has signed letters of intent with various market participants as part of the open season for the hydrogen import terminal in Wilhelmshaven. Interested parties were able to register by mid-June to secure reservations for the corresponding capacity services. This marks the successful conclusion of the first phase—the Expression of Interest (EoI) phase—which confirms market interest. This lays the foundation for the project’s further development through the subsequent development, approval, and commercialization measures. In addition, this marks the start of phase two, during which Heads of Terms and a terminal usage agreement will be drawn up.
According to the company, the terminal is to have a modular design, so that the initial import capacities can be expanded to a maximum annual throughput of 2.6 million metric tons of ammonia (corresponding to approximately 350,000 metric tons of hydrogen) can be expanded. If a corresponding market exists, there will be new capacity tenders in the future as part of an open season. However, the currently booked capacities and rights would remain unaffected by any new capacities booked in the future.
