International Partnerships for the Future of Hydrogen
SEFE is establishing global hydrogen supply chains and thus securing the supply of clean hydrogen for Germany and Europe. The focus is on procuring hydrogen from countries with a lot of wind and solar energy in the form of ammonia, which is transported by ship and converted into hydrogen at import terminals. Via the German hydrogen core grid, it will then be delivered directly to the blast furnaces, conveyor belts and production lines at German industrial sites, for example. The international partnerships are an important step towards establishing hydrogen as a key energy source for the energy transition and ensuring a stable supply for industry.
Together with Höegh Evi, SEFE is developing floating import terminals and hydrogen corridors for a flexible connection to global markets, for example. While SEFE manages procurement and marketing, Höegh Evi provides the maritime infrastructure for transportation and conversion.
In addition, a hydrogen bridge is being created between Saudi Arabia and Germany together with ACWA Power. From 2030, 200,000 tons of green hydrogen are to be supplied to Europe every year. SEFE is investing in production and marketing the hydrogen as the main customer.
SEFE is also focusing on partnerships in South America: with Eletrobras and EnerTech, the company is driving forward the production and supply of hydropower-based green hydrogen from Brazil. SEFE is investing in the infrastructure and marketing the hydrogen exclusively in Europe.
Through these initiatives, SEFE is driving forward the energy transition and securing a sustainable hydrogen supply for Germany and Europe.
