Hyperlink: Expansion of a hydrogen grid by Gasunie

Gasunie’s Hyperlink project is an initiative to build a comprehensive hydrogen network in northern and western Germany. The aim of the project is to create 660 kilometers of infrastructure connecting key industrial regions and enabling green hydrogen imports from the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway. The first 54-kilometer section of the network, connecting Bremen and Hamburg, marks the start of implementation, with commissioning planned by 2026.

This hydrogen network will play a central role in the decarbonization of the industry: It will provide low-CO2 hydrogen for various applications in the chemical, steel production and energy supply sectors. Hyperlink also creates connections to hydrogen storage and import sites, which increases security of supply and promotes the integration of renewable energies. By collaborating with international partners, Gasunie is setting new standards for a sustainable energy future in Europe with this project.
