Energie Schwaben is Building Three Electrolyzers
The energie schwaben Group will build a total of three electrolysers with a capacity of five megawatts each for the production of green hydrogen in its supply area. The possible expansion has already been planned. From 2027, the electrolysers in Allmannshofen, Illertissen and Rohrenfels or Oberhausen an der Donau will supply hydrogen as a climate-neutral energy source and contribute to achieving climate targets. schwaben regenerativ, a subsidiary of energie schwaben, will implement the projects. The energie schwaben Group is investing around eight million euros per plant, with funding from the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs of around 3.3 million euros each from the Bavarian electrolyser funding program covering just over a third of this.
schwaben netz, also a subsidiary of energie schwaben, has surveyed the future demand for hydrogen in industry and commerce together with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). It has shown that there is great interest in purchasing hydrogen in the region, signaling the high relevance of hydrogen for Bavarian Swabia.
“By building three electrolysers in the region, we are making an important contribution to the success of the energy transition. Hydrogen will replace natural gas in the future. However, in addition to importing hydrogen, we must also rely on domestic production in the future to ensure a secure supply. This is good for the local economy: the added value remains in the region,” says Steven Narrog, Managing Director of schwaben regenerativ.
