Deutsche ReGas Receives Funding for Green Hydrogen Production in Bruchsal
The state of Baden-Württemberg has selected Deutsche ReGas to fund the “H₂-Hub Bruchsal” hydrogen project. The grant agreement was accepted by Energy Minister Thekla Walker in Stuttgart in mid-December. The funding of approximately €10 million will be used to construct a 15 MW electrolyzer in Bruchsal, a key component of Deutsche ReGas’s decentralized hydrogen strategy. Starting in 2028, the plant is expected to produce 1,200 to 2,250 tons of green hydrogen annually for businesses and municipal customers in the region. This approach pursues a modular strategy for producing and distributing green hydrogen regionally, independent of existing hydrogen transport infrastructure.
The grant is awarded under the “ELY” funding program of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Energy, which supports the development of regional electrolysis capacities and local hydrogen clusters. The project of Deutsche ReGas is part of the state’s first call for proposals, which aims to create 55 megawatts of new electrolysis capacity. This year, Baden-Württemberg is providing a total of €50.7 million for eight selected projects.
Ingo Wagner, Managing Partner of Deutsche ReGas, emphasizes that this makes ReGas part of the development of a regional hydrogen infrastructure in Baden-Württemberg. This will allow companies and municipalities to gain quick and easy access to green hydrogen.
