Aquaductus: Hydrogen Infrastructure in the North Sea
AquaDuctus is the offshore hydrogen pipeline of the AquaVentus initiative – a central connection for green hydrogen from the North Sea to the European mainland. It offers open, non-discriminatory access and is being gradually expanded on a gigawatt scale.
As an “Important Project of Common European Interest” (IPCEI), it forms the core of an offshore infrastructure between Germany and the North Sea countries of the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, the United Kingdom and Norway. This cross-border network creates new opportunities for the European hydrogen market.
The pipeline is expected to make a significant contribution to the decarbonization of the industry. By 2035, AquaDuctus could be a central component of the European hydrogen supply.
